LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
The location can make a photo more interesting to the eye! So who chooses the location? At the end of the day, the client has the final say. When it comes to deciding where, I will give you multiple options along with pictures of each location.
Milwork District has beautiful structural eye catching backgrounds, even doors make great backgrounds.
The barn, near the church off of JFK. There are trees, open area for kids to run, and a beautiful barn!
The Arboretum is a beautiful place and so many background options!
University of Dubuque has great tree’s during the fall as shown above. They also have beautiful doorways, stairways, archways, and a church that make for great photos.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT OUTFIT.
How do you choose your outfits? Outfits are important to each photoshoot, as it makes the photos come alive and showcases your personal style. With that being said, yes, I do have a rhyme and a reason why I pick certain outfits for certain photos. Is the photo for Christmas? Yes, I would add some red and/or green in my clothing selection. Next question I ask myself, “Where am I going to place these photos in my home? Will the colors of my clothing selection clash the colors of my home decor? Most likely not, but it definitely crosses my mind! ”Then when it comes to making sure everyone matches in some way, but not too “matchy matchy.”
TIPS ON POSING.
Last but not least, posing. Where will my photos hang in my home? What poses do I need to make sure I get? Here’s an example. I have 6 people in my family, and 3 picture frames I want to fill in my hallway. The left and the right photos have 2 of my girls facing either towards the middle frame or away. Then I place our whole family in the middle. I always make sure I get these poses every time I take photos of my family or have photos taken. If you have certain frames you want to use and need one that is horizontal and one vertical, I will be sure to get them during your photoshoot. Just let me know!
